Keeping your central vacuum system performing at its best starts with regular bag and filter changes. At MyCentralVacuum, we carry replacement bags and filters compatible with all major brands — Beam, NuTone, Hayden, Electrolux, Vacuflo, and more. Whether you're topping off supplies or doing a full system refresh, we have the exact fit you need, backed by over 60 years in the central vacuum business.
A clogged or full bag is the #1 cause of lost suction in central vacuum systems. Most manufacturers recommend changing your bag every 3–6 months depending on usage. Here's what to watch for:
Think of a bag change like an oil change — skip it too long and you'll pay for it in motor life.
Our bags and filters are guaranteed to fit the most popular central vacuum brands on the market:

Use disposable filter bags to capture dust and debris. Most common type. Excellent filtration — when the bag is full, simply remove and replace with no contact with debris. Compatible bags available for virtually every brand.
Use a dirt canister instead of a bag. Requires periodic emptying and cleaning of the canister and filter. We carry replacement filters for cyclonic systems as well. Check your power unit — if it has a clear canister, you're bagless.
Most homeowners go through 2–4 bags per year depending on home size, number of occupants, pets, and frequency of use. We recommend keeping a 2-pack on hand so you're never caught short.
Capture 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. Best for allergy and asthma sufferers. Replace annually or as recommended by your system manufacturer.
Pre-motor protection filters found in many cyclonic units. Rinse clean with warm water and allow to fully dry before reinstalling. Replace when foam deteriorates.
Fine filtration media used in bagged systems. Usually replaced with each bag change. Some styles can be rinsed and reused depending on manufacturer specs.
Check the model number on your power unit — it's usually on a label on the side or back. Then call us at (800) 238-2294 or browse by brand above. We'll confirm the exact match before you order.
In many cases yes — though OEM bags often provide better filtration and fit. We carry both OEM and high-quality compatible options and will always recommend the best fit for your system.
Most filters should be cleaned or replaced every 6–12 months. Foam and cloth filters can often be rinsed and reused; HEPA filters should be replaced annually.
Suction drops rapidly and continued use can overheat the motor. Always replace before the bag is completely packed — most bags include a fill-line indicator.
